Bridal Makeup Trial: What It's For, and Why It Isn't About Perfection
A bridal makeup trial is not a pass-or-fail audition. We call it a preview, and we treat it the way we treat pre-production on a shoot: it is where we map your skin, test the products and pressure-test wear time, so your wedding morning is predictable in the best possible way.

What a bridal trial actually does
We look at your undertones, how much oil your skin produces, its texture, and how it behaves in humidity or air conditioning. Then we build a process we can repeat on the day, in the same order, at the same pace. Every client of ours gets that standard — a bride, a keynote speaker or a national campaign.
What we test, so you do not have to
On the airbrush-or-traditional question, Paula’s own preference is a combination of Kett Fixx Creme foundation and water-based Kett airbrush, both from Kett Cosmetics — but we choose for your skin, not for a routine. Why “close enough” is perfect at a trial
It is normal to leave a trial with notes. Maybe you want softer eyes. Maybe we add a touch more bronzer. Those notes are gold: they turn into your step-by-step wedding-day plan.

What to bring to your makeup trial
- Two or three inspiration photos that feel like you.
- A photo of your dress and neckline.
- Any hair accessories or your veil.
- Allergies or sensitivities.
- Your everyday comfort makeup, so we match the feeling rather than copy the routine.
What you leave with
Clarity: what we are doing, how long it takes, and how it will photograph from the ceremony to the last dance. On the day, every person in the chair gets a written start time, and our full day keeps an artist on site for touch-ups. Details are on our bridal rates.

Do I need a bridal makeup trial if I want a natural look?
Yes. Natural still requires precision, especially through heat, tears and a long day. Soft glam takes restraint, and a trial is where we find exactly how much is enough for your skin.
When should I schedule my bridal makeup trial?
Eight to twelve weeks before the wedding, or before a big photo moment such as your engagement session or bridal portraits, so the trial doubles as a real test in front of a camera.
Should my wedding makeup be airbrush or traditional?
We test what your skin needs and decide at the trial. Paula personally prefers a combination of cream products and water-based airbrush from Kett Cosmetics, but the formula and placement are always chosen for you.
What should I bring to my makeup trial?
