The City Lights Standard

The same discipline we bring to a commercial set, brought to your morning.

  • Nothing is an upgrade. Lashes, airbrush and product are tools we chose for your face, not line items on your invoice.
  • The look is the job. Wind, heat and rain are planned for. We will not talk you out of the hair you want because the forecast is inconvenient.
  • It is built to last in the prep. Shine is controlled before the camera comes out, not by powdering you all night.

Questions Brides Actually Ask

Straight answers.

Is airbrush wedding makeup an upgrade that costs more?

No, and it never will be. Airbrush is a tool, not a tier, and charging extra for it would be a disservice on the most photographed day of your life. What actually matters is which formula, and where. There are silicone, water-based and alcohol-based airbrush formulas. Alcohol-based is the one marketed as waterproof, and it belongs on tattoo cover-ups, effects work and underwater shoots, not on a face for twelve hours, because it is too dry and cracks wherever you crease when you smile, and it cannot be touched up. So your artist picks the formula and the placement for you: full coverage, contour only, spot treatment, or none at all, alongside traditional product where that photographs better. It is included either way.

What is the difference between a bridal makeup trial and a preview session?

A preview is what most brides book, scheduled alongside your date once your contract is signed, at $225 per service. A trial is the same session run before you have booked anything, for brides who want to see the work first, at $350 per service. Both are priced per service, so hair and makeup counts as two, and both produce a written look plan your artist follows on the wedding day.

Will wedding makeup hold in Florida heat and humidity?

That is the whole point of the way we work. Skin prep is built around your environment before a single product goes on. An outdoor ceremony on Tampa Bay in July is a different job than a January ballroom at The Vinoy or a Chicago lakefront in October, and the work is planned to hold through the reception.

Can you cover redness, rosacea or acne scarring?

Yes, and the work starts before any makeup goes on. Redness is a color problem first, so it is neutralized in the prep with the right corrector under a foundation matched to your skin, instead of being buried under layers that photograph heavy. Rosacea, acne scarring, sunburn, broken capillaries and post-treatment redness are all routine for us. Mention it when you book and your artist plans the products around it, including what to do if your skin flares in heat or under stress on the day.

What if it rains, or the wind picks up?

We plan for it rather than talk you out of the look you wanted. If a stylist tells a bride to wear her hair up because it is windy, that is the stylist solving their own problem: it would never happen on a commercial set, where the shot has to happen whatever the weather is doing. Your artist builds the style around the forecast, with the structure and product that hold it, a plan for the walk to your first look, and touch-ups through the day if you have booked the full day on site.

What is the full day on site?

Eight hours on site, and the clock starts when you sit down. Your hair and makeup take three to four of them, and your artist stays for the rest rather than packing up when the room is ready. That is standby, the way a production keeps an artist on set: unlimited touch-ups for you and for everyone in your party who booked with us, shine and sweat control, lip touch-ups between courses, tear mitigation, hair placement and weather control, and checks before key photos. It includes an optional second look if you are changing dresses for the reception, the touch-up between the ceremony and the photographs that most brides want in the frame, and behind-the-scenes content from the morning. Additional hours are $250.

Are there hidden fees or travel costs for wedding hair and makeup?

No. Coordination and hospitality are built into every rate on this page. The only separately stated line is on-location in-room service at $150 per artist, because it scales with the size of your team. Every booking is confirmed with a signed contract and an itemized invoice before anything is due.

How far in advance should I book a wedding hair and makeup team in Tampa Bay or Chicago?

Peak Saturdays in Tampa Bay and Chicago are typically claimed nine to twelve months out. Dates are held with a signed contract and a retainer, not a verbal hold or an email. Payment plans are available, including 0% financing through Klarna and Afterpay with approval.

Can your team handle a large wedding party on time?

Yes. We staff to headcount rather than to budget, and we write a per-person timeline backward from your first look. That schedule is shared with your planner and photographer so nobody is guessing on the day.

Do you do the groom and groomsmen?

Yes, and nobody will be able to tell, including him. It is grooming rather than makeup: skin prep and moisture, shine control that holds through an outdoor ceremony and a warm reception, redness evened out, and concealment only where the camera would otherwise catch it. It is the same service we run before a corporate headshot or an on-camera segment. Groom and groomsmen are $200 each on a booking with the bride, and fifteen to twenty minutes per person, so it fits into the morning without moving anyone else's start time.

Do you travel for destination weddings?

Yes. Our teams work from Tampa Bay, Chicago and Los Angeles, and we travel for destination weddings from each. Travel is quoted as part of your proposal, never as a surprise line after you have said yes.
